At Assembly this morning Nursery and Reception took the stage and delighted us all with their presentation of their excursion to the Miró Foundation yesterday. They showed us their own Miró-like paintings which they had done. They explained that their paintings has ‘straight’ lines and ‘curvy’ lines. Javier could tell us that Miró’s stars were special because of the way he used the lines and explained the Miró star. Teo told us that Miró’s favourite animal was the bird and showed us a bird sculpture. Gemma told us the primary colours that Miró used. Michelle explained that next week Nursery and Reception are going to get really messy – ‘throwing’ and mixing paint to make a giant ‘Miró’ mural in our big patio!
This week Helen started the English Cup awards by giving Judit García (Year 4) a sticker for her efforts in English. Rebecca says she has noticed so many people even using English in the patio and she gave her award to Yago, who has been speaking English all over the place! Michelle’s English Award went to one of the youngest members in Reception – Martina – who has been speaking English to everyone!
Stars of the Week went to Jaume Masferrer (Year 2) for excellent work in Catalan and in Maths! Andrea gave a star for excellent writing and use of very rich vocabulary in her writing to Natalia! Rebecca gave a star to Year 2 student Paula for participating so actively and positively in class. Helen awarded her Star of the Week to Marc Pascual for making a super effort with his ‘joined-up’ (cursive) writing, and Meritxell gave Joan Corominas Star of the Week in Nursery and Reception for coming to school every day now with a big smile on his face!
However, the star for excellence goes without doubt to Juan Rodríguez Duh (Year 3) who wrote the following, all by HIMSELF:
‘Creak! As Hagrid knocked the old and crumbling wall with his magic umbrella, the wall began to make a mysterious movement. When the mysterious transformation was finished, Harry couldn’t believe what was in front of his eyes. He saw an enormous hidden street, full of owls, witches, wizards, the latest broomstick (Cumulus Nimbus 3000) and strange flowers. Harry, who was looking excitedly, couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Then Hagrid said ‘you will need to have a magic wand’. ‘But how do I get it?’ asked Harry. ‘Here’ said Hagrid. Harry went to a shop of magic wands. The first wand that he tried destroyed one part of the shop and with the second wand the same, but the third one that he tried was good. The man said ‘the other wand is of Voldemort’.
Fantastic writing, Juan!!!
Emma congratulated the older students for their achievements on the Forest School excursion last Monday. Everyone worked as a team, everyone came wearing the right clothes and footwear and nobody complained about anything or anyone! And of course, everyone enjoyed the sights, sounds and smell of the forest!
Finally, we rounded off Assembly by singing and wishing Aina Ventura and Fiona Bernaldo a happy birthday this week!
