As Nursery and Reception have been studying Bears over the past few weeks, we were all very keen to see some real life bears. We were told at Molló park there were several brow bears we could go to see. Molló park is not a zoo, it is a natural park in the Pyrenees.
Some of the children were so excited we were told they couldn’t sleep! Therefore the early start was not too difficult for them. They were all very behaved on the long bus journey, Mary Poppins kept us all very entertained! When we arrived, the children were delighted as the first animals that we saw were the BEARS! We saw Bru, a huge brown bear, rolling around in the warm sunshine. Later we met Wendy and Queta whose favourite food was definitely the chicken they were eating.
During the TWO hour walk around the park we were very lucky that the park attendant came with us and fed many of the animals in front of us! We started with meeting a very friendly duck and then some beautiful birds of prey. After them was one of the favourites of many of the children, the goats. We were allowed to go in and touch and feed the goats! They took the food from our hands, even the 2 month old baby goats, which were very cute.
We continued our long walk up and down the mountain meeting many other animals on the way including many very confident deer, goats, chamois and mouflons which all ran freely around us. Just as the children were becoming tired we were all quickly woken back up by passing the wolves! There were two very hungry looking scary wolves which were being fed baby chicks! We were very lucky with the weather but just as we sat down for a well deserved lunch the rain began so we quickly ate and ran for cover! On the way back we heard many snores from the children as they slept after their very exciting day!
