Today the children had a wonderful day exploring the world of Maths and Science through fun activities! We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather meaning classes worked in the patios in a carousel set-up.
Years 1 to 7 took part in 5 different activities: Building bridges using straws, that could sustain various weighted objects; Investigating what happens when corn flour is mixed with water through careful measuring and using ratio; Running races and measuring their heart rate before and after to understand the effects of physical activity on the body; Creating giant graphs tables to show information collected by their group and having to work out the intervals needed; Exploring how gas takes up space through blowing bubbles, why they evaporate and measuring the diameter and circumference of the bubbles they blow on a table.
Nursery and Reception also spent the morning taking part in some experimenting of their own with bubbles and also corn flour!
The children were able to build on critical thinking skills, learn new concepts by asking questions and trying to find the answers through practical exploration all with Maths and Science!
