Year 6 have been lucky enough to enjoy two fantastic trips in recent weeks, both giving us a very special and hands-on chance to learn about our local history.
The first was a guided tour of the Air Raid Shelter of La Garriga Station, carved out of the rock in 1939 in order to protect the citizens of La Garriga from air attacks, in particular those which occurred on the 29th April 1939. Our guide, Dani, was excellent and really brought alive the experiences of the people of La Garriga in 1939.
We followed on from this with a trip to Montjuïc Castle, where we explored the history of Barcelona and Catalunya, as well as the many uses which the castle has offered citizens since its construction in 1640. The sun was shining and we enjoyed stunning views from the castle as we learnt so much.
Both visits were amazing – entertaining and educational. We can’t wait for the next trip!
