UNICEF’s Day for Change officially came to ISCAT on Friday!
The day began with the children sharing their ‘School in a box’ with each other. They spent time teaching their lessons with pride and togetherness. They also enjoyed taking on the role of the teacher by finding creative ways to teach their fellow students.
We were then treated to an assembly led by some of our Steering Group. They each did a presentation on someone who had made a positive change to society. We learned about Malala, Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa! We were then lucky enough to hear about the experience of Núria Costa Isern who had volunteered in a refugee camp on the Greek island Lesbos and also in Athens. She very kindly brought pictures, which helped the children understand how their raised money could help the Syrian refugees.
As part of our Day for Change the children were allowed to wear non-uniform but the teachers were not so lucky! Us teachers got into the spirit of change and wore ISCAT school uniform! However we do see the benefits of school uniform because we didn’t have to think about what to wear in the morning! That’s one less decision to make!
Finally we all made our way to the ISCAT gym turned art gallery. This is where our school parents could come and admire the fantastic art work our children created. We were also treated to music from our rock band, delicious snacks and of course our raffle! Well done to all our winners!
Overall the day was a huge success! Our ISCAT community came together once again to raise money and spread awareness for this great cause. Amount raised will be annouced soon.
Thank you to everyone who contributed! Amount raised will be annouced soon. It was a truly memorable day.
Photos will be available on our intranet soon. Don’t forget to check them out! (https://www.iscat.es/privatearea/).
