In assembly, children learned about what is meant by Fairtrade and why we should try to buy Fairtrade products. Children learned that Fairtrade involves workers receiving better prices for the goods they grow as well as having a better standard of living. Since its introduction in 1946, it has helped over 1.65 million farmers and workers in 74 countries by improving their lives and ensuring that they have enough money to live and continue to grow more produce. In addition, children also learned about the role they can play as responsible consumers and to look out for the Fairtrade symbol.
