This week was Anti-bullying Week and we had some very interesting discussions in our Emotional Education classes across Primary. We looked at how bullying affects the rights of a child and which rights are not being respected. The children were able to say which Articles were not respected or which rights were not being enjoyed. For example, the right to an education, the right to be safe, the right to rest and play, the right to an opinion, the right against discrimination and the right to life! Furthermore, we discussed different aspects of bullying such as: how it looks in different situations, who it affects, the responsibility we have as witnesses and why people bully.
We have also taken part in workshops with other classes to share experiences across ages and as well as role-playing scenarios. This special week culminated with our assembly, to give the children an opportunity to share what they have learned this week.
