Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an American national holiday marking the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
In our Primary assembly we discussed what changes Martin Luther King brought about in America during the 1950s and 1960s. We looked at how he improved the lives of many African Americans, who at that time, were treated unfairly because of their race.
King was able to unify people against this prejudice and through peaceful protests, powerful and inspiring speeches; King was able to alter the mindset of many people, ensuring that everyone (despite their race) was treated equally.
