On Monday 28th May, our Year 10 students began their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, Assessed Journey in Montseny Natural Park. They began in Collformic and navigated their way some 15 km to their overnight camp spot near Montseny Village. With tired legs yet high spirits, they prepared their tents and cooked some nutritious meals, but not before enjoying the natural surrounding beauty and taking dip in the near by river.
Day two began before 7am with the preparation of a hot breakfast (pancakes were the popular choice) and although it was raining, the students worked together in teams to pack down their tents and were ready to depart by 8:45am. Perhaps the most challenging part of the trip was the hike from the camp to our finishing point in Mosqueroles via Font Martina where we arrived some six hours later. A total of over 30 km in two days!
The students were incredible and remained strong and positive at even the most demanding stages. They are a credit to themselves and the teachers who accompanied them on this adventure. There are many stories to be told and memories that will stay with us, but most importantly, we will remember the sheer enjoyment and sense of achievement displayed clearly on the faces of our students when they completed each stage.
Well done to our ISCAT Superstars!
