To start we made 3 groups, selecting the team leaders through a quick mental math challenge. 😏
The first challenge was for the group to make the largest possible circle, the only rule being that they had to be touching each other.
We looked at the area to perimeter ratio for different shapes, talked about a Carthigian legend by Didone, where only a cow’s pelt was used to outline it’s perimeter. 🤩
The second activity involved each student measuring 5 steps along a five meter ruler, timing the answer by 2 and then dividing it by 10 to have an estimate of their step length.
Then together they had to work out how many steps 1 member of the group would have needed to mark exactly 75 meters while the others were helping to count and maintain the direction. 👏
The winner of round one and two were given an extra egg to be used for the final challenge. 😜
The final challenge was to walk with an egg on a spoon for 25 meters and see who could be the fastest. They were asked to walk as far as they could on the slackline in order to find the three with the best balance.
The last task was to solve a riddle in order to locate a previously hidden sweet ‘treasure’. 🙌
