Today in our Key Stage 2 assembly our students learned about the International Day of Non-Violence which took place on Monday 2nd October.
This day was established on 15th June 2007 by the United Nations General Assembly and coincides with the birth date of one of history’s most influential figures, Mahatma Gandhi. During the assembly, the children learned about the life of Gandhi from his time studying law in London to his most memorable moments in both South Africa and India. The children observed the effects of non-violence and unity when aiming to bring about peaceful change. They also made links to another well-known leader in history with similar beliefs; Martin Luther King.
