This year saw a very different Sant Jordi for all of us! No streets filled with bookstalls, rose sellers and families…but we celebrated just the same, and managed to ensure that one of our greatest Catalan traditions found its way into every home yesterday.
We asked all our ISCAT families to decorate their houses, windows and balconies in the Sant Jordi colours and our students filled these with their beautifully creative home-made dragons, murals and roses.
Once again, although this time from the confinement of our homes, we ran the VIII ISCAT Floral Games 2020 competition. Each group created a literary work be it poetry, biographies or news items. The creativity, originality and effort of the entries has made it extremely difficult to choose a winner, and we want to congratulate and thank everyone who participated, not just those who won prizes.
Secondary students offered a collaborative poetry recital. Each student chose a poem and explained to the group the reasons for their choice and what that particular poem means to them. It was truly a delight to listen to their choices and reflections.
Over the course of the week Year 5 and Year 6 prepared their own representation of the traditional St. George legend and explained it to their younger companions. Their particular version and the significance they attributed to the individual characters in the story was lovely to hear.
Finally, we would like to thank all members of our community – students, families and teachers – for making Sant Jordi 2020 a very special and unique day!
Aquest any la Diada de Sant Jordi ha estat una diada diferent per a tothom. Els carrers no estaven plens de parades de llibres i roses, però entre tots i totes hem aconseguit fer arribar a les nostres llars la cultura catalana.
Des de l’ISCAT vam proposar a totes les famílies que decoressin les seves cases, finestres i balcons amb els colors representatius de Sant Jordi o amb diferents manualitats. Com era d’esperar, els nostres alumnes han omplert les seves cases amb dracs, murals i moltes roses creatives.
Un any més, tot i la distància, s’han dut a terme els VIII Jocs Florals Sant Jordi 2020 de l’ISCAT. Cada grup ha creat diferents textos literaris com ara dibuixos, rodolins, poemes, auques, autobiografies o notícies. Escollir una obra guanyadora ens ha estat molt difícil. Cada any l’esforç dels participants és més gran i hi ha molta originalitat. Volem felicitar no només els guanyadors i guanyadores sinó a tothom que ha participat.
Els alumnes de Secundària han gaudit d’un recital de poesia que han preparat entre tots i totes. Cada alumne ha buscat una poesia i l’ha presentat a la resta explicant perquè l’havien escollit i què els havia transmès. Ha estat plaer escoltar les diferents poesies i les seves reflexions.
Per últim, durant la setmana, els alumnes de Year 5 i Year 6 han estat preparant la representació de la llegenda original i d’una versió nova d’aquesta per poder explicar-la als seus companys i companyes més petits. Ha estat una activitat molt enriquidora on s’ha gaudit de la llegenda i de les reflexions sobre els diferents rols dels personatges.
Volem donar les gràcies a tota la comunitat, alumnes, famílies i professorat, per fer d’aquest dia una diada diferent i especial.
